| Importing...Drawing bulding in another program... |

| Hi,
I was wondering if there was a 3-d program that would allow me to be more efficient at creating the structure. I have tried importing dxf files a couple times but it has caused more labor on the project than just starting in EASE 4.1.
Your experiences would be welcome :*)

| Hi Andy,
We recently held a seminar in Brisbane and there were a number of power Autocad users present who used the dxf import very effectively.
I recall some notions of using polylines and no layers or some such process.
Emad can you shed any light on this??

I'm currently testing the import of quite complex surfaces from Rhino. The problem I've found is the setup of the meshing feature that exports a large number of faces. I will send the results of my test as soon as possible.
I'm very interested in this topic.

| Hi Andy,
The CAD portion of EASE lacks a few features of some of the more advanced CAD programs, but is much easier to learn. I can teach someone with no prior CAD experience to model in EASE in one 8 hour class. This is completely impossible in AutoCAD.
If you are spending more than about 30 minutes to construct an average EASE model in EASE you'd do well to take one of the classes. Any of us who teach EASE can teach you the fast way to model using EASE's own set of CAD tools and--as importantly--show you how much detail to include and leave out. |

| Hi Daniele,
The "Collect Scattered Faces" check box in the .dxf import window is there specifically for importing polyline meshes. This switch will analyze the mesh and create the minimum number of planar faces from the mesh. |

This procedure ("Collect Scattered Faces") will do the "Faces" for me or I will need to add the "Faces" One by One???.......if this true, this will a lot of work than the AutoCAD input....Right?? |
