| We are currently installing line arrays behind what our consultant tells us is "an acoustically transparent material".
My question is, does a pluggin exist wherein the properties may be inserted to confirm any losses due to this material and what information format should this take.
This is my first post to this forum and look forward to some helpfull responses.

| Hi POB,
No, there is not a plug-in at this time for EASE. As an acoustical consultant, typically I would get a sample of the material and test it's behavior using EASERA. When I was a sound contractor, if I was unsure that the acoustical consultant was right, I would also measure it myself. What type of material is specified? |

| Bruce , many thanks for the response.
The material is Barrilux a similar looking product to Barrisol however the technical data available for the former is minimal.
"Barrilux is ideal in open spaces it eliminates uncomfortable echoes.
Big machines can be easily insulated.
PVC stretch ceilings are in conformity with :
Standard of acoustic absorption. NF S31-003
Qualibat No7152"
I think you will note why we are somewhat concerned with the performance of the system when this material is directly infront of the arrays.
Any further comments or other concerns would be appreciated.

| I would say it is a HUGE concern. You should run a model in EASE with a Face in front of the arrays. That should be a fairly good indicator of the lack of sound that will come through this "transparent" material. There is a reason the sound providers for events outdoors putting loose plastic bags over the speakers rather than stretched plastic. It doesn't work otherwise.
No need to model this, just get some of the material, put it in front of the speaker and listen to it. Although I measure everything, I think in this case there will need to be no need to measure it.
