| I've been reading through the manual. How important is the mic calibration?
I ask because I've seen people use other measurment software without calibration.
If it's essential, then can recommend a good one?
Thanks! |

| Hello Eric,
if you want to perform true SPL, NC or LEQ measurements with SysTune, you will need to calibrate your measuring system. There are many companies from which you can get a decent pistonphone or microphone calibrator.
For relative levels, transfer function, IR or room-acoustic measurements microphone calibration is not principally needed but recommended. It will help you to keep level relationships intact and compare measurements made at different times and/or with different setups.

| Stefan,
Thank you, I'll look into my options for a calibrator.

| See the manual, plug which can load the MIC calibration file, which is very effective for precision measurement. This understanding is correct? |

| Please notice that this topic is about Level calibration. Which is different than a Frequency Response calibration for a measurement microphone.
The first is performed with a microphone calibrator, or a piston phone. The latter is generally provided by the microphone manufacturer, in order to compensate for irregularities in the mic frequency response.
