| Dear Friends
Hi again, I have two Questions for the EASE Room Editor module and I will appreciate a lot if somebody can help me to resolve them;
1- Is there any way of joining two coplanar faces quick and easy way or do I need to redo the new face manually using the vertices of the two existing faces?
2- What can I do in order to eliminate a Face when I recive the following message:
"Cannot delete item -appended to "FILENAME" "
Thanks a lot anticipated!

| 1 - Not sure I understand your question, sorry.
2 - This usually occurs when you have Objects in your drawing. To remove the item, you first need to remove it from the Object which contains that item. Just open the Object properties e remove it. |

| Pedro I am so sorry for the Post Subject name!! ....I will try your advice in the future....
Thanks for your response for the second question. The firts question is;
How I can bind(joint) one face with another face (both coplanar) so as to generate a single face? this can be manually done, I know! selecting every vertice, one by one in order to generate a new single face...I am not sure if this can be done in somehow! maybe not I don't know it!.
Thanks a lot for your help and advise,
Opacheco. |

| Hi Opacheco,
No feature like that occurs to me at this moment. I don't think it is available in the current version.
You can, however, go to the Properties of one of the Faces and "Add" the other "missing" Vertices (the Vértices from the other Face).
Not sure if this is really faster than inserting a new Face, though. I guess it would depend on the complexity of the Faces involved. For instance, if one contains a lot of Vértices and the other Face only a few Vértices (e.g. 4), maybe it might make sense to proceed as described above to acelerate things.
HTH,
Pedro |

| Opacheco,
A binding co-planar face option would certainly be an advantage!
Depending on how complex the two faces are, it may be easier to redraw the coplanar faces as one new face and delete the old faces. Obviously, if you have other faces coating the old faces, these will need to be updated.
For some complex editing, I've sometimes found it quicker to export the EASE model to DXF and edit the model in AutoCAD and then import it back to EASE. I'm almost certain AutoCAD and Sketchup allow you to bind coplanar faces. Happy to be corrected here.
When importing from DXF, it may be worth trying the 'Collect Scattered Faces' option. You may need to also experiment with the 'Plane Face Tolerance' too as this may affect your result.
Look forward to hearing how you go.
Regards |
