| Hi,
I'm starting work with EASE and i have a doubt: in Edit Project Module >> Edit Face Window, what means the property "Shadow Cast"? When should I mark it ON/OFF? What is the criteria to choose activate/ disable this option?
Can anyone help me and explain me this, please?
Grateful for time and attention. |

| Hi Elisabete,
The check mark is primarily just for information, it tells you that there is a potential for that face to cast an acoustic shadow--provided Shadow Cast is switched on in the Mapping setup . In 99.99% of all cases, you just ignore it. The only time you would change it is if you modeled a face that you _never_ wanted to cast a shadow, regardless of the setting of the Shadow Cast option. In that case, you would uncheck Shadow Cast and select Locked. Then that face will never cast an acoustic shadow.
The best example of this would be if you drew in a face representing a perforated projection screen with loudspeakers behind it.
Note that this switch does not remove the face from the surface area and alpha calculations, so you need to evaluate what drawing in a transondant face does to your model. |

Grateful for time and attention. |

| Hi Elisabete,
Ah, now we're going to nicely tell you to Read The Fine Manual.
Ease44Help.pdf, you'll find it here:
C:\Program Files (x86)\EASE 4.x\Easepath\Ease44Manual (x denotes the subversion you have installed)
See document pg.666 (pdf pg 678). |
