| Normally I use an external generator for my noise source, but for a variety of reasons I tried to use the internal generator today. I was outputting Pink Noise of various sample lengths.
I noticed some weird behavior in the Transfer Function measurements and traced it back to a variance in the time of the signal output from the generator. It "moves" forward and back in time approximately 0.5ms. I was not able to determine the exact pattern, but it seems somewhat cyclical, every 5-10 seconds it shifts, and then 5-10 seconds later shifts back.
Obviously, this makes it difficult to use for this type of measurement! ;o)
I use a Dell Latitude D820 with a FirePod FP10 interface. The software is monitoring the internal digital signal by selecting "out" as the reference. Could this be a result over asking too much from my laptop CPU? |
