Peak at the end of ETC chart |

| Hi,
often I can see a strong peak on the right side of ETC chart. This peak occour exactly at the same time (on the X axys) of the FFT size and only if I set the delay offset with the peak or auto function. If I manually set the delay offset with a slightly lower value, the peak disappear.
Why this happen?

| Hi Cilllol,
The ETC or IR (Impulse Response) can be thought of as being continuous, even though on the display it seems to start at the left and end at the right. This means as the delay offset value is changed so that the IR peak moves to the left, the data in front of the IR peak (earlier in time) is moved to the end of the display or wrapped around. It's like a big circle almost.
When the the delay offset is determined by the peak or auto function it determines the delay time by the highest value or peak of the IR or ETC. There is actually a rise to the left (earlier in time) if this peak. When the peak is moved in time to t=0 this initial rise is moved to the end of the display. So the peak you are seeing at the end of the FTT is really the initial rise of the IR. |
